Starts: Shadwell underground.  Streetmap.co.uk link.
Ends: Docklands Light Railway station.
Time: Approx. 2 hours.
Distance: 3 kilometres.
wheelchair access There are some flights of steps on this walk: at St. George’s, in Tobacco Dock and around Shadwell Basin. All these can be avoided by staying on the adjacent main roads. Instructions for going round rather than through Tobacco Dock are included in the commentary. At Shadwell Basin, continue up Glamis Street to The Highway and turn left.
Route: Cable Street, St. George in the East, Tobacco Dock, St. Peter’s, Wapping High Street, Pier Head and pubs, Hydraulic Power Station (The Wapping Project), Shadwell Basin, St. Paul’s.
Special notes:
  • We have never found Tobacco Dock closed.
  • St. Peter’s is open daily.
  • St. Paul’s is only open on Sundays, 9.30 - 11am.
